How to Find the Right Yoga
Class for Your Needs

If you’ve ever scrolled through social media and felt like yoga is only for people who can turn themselves into human pretzels while wearing color-coordinated spandex, I have a secret for you: That isn't what yoga is about.

In our studio, we call it out plainly: We aren’t about "judgy hot girl yoga." We are about making yoga as accessible as possible by proving affordable and inclusive classes.

If you’re ready to start but feel overwhelmed by the options, here is how to navigate our different classes and the world of yoga.

1. Start with the "Why," Not the "What"

Before you look at a class name, look at yourself. To find the right fit, you have to be honest about your current goals. We’ve designed our classes to meet you exactly where you are:

If you want to build strength and energy:

Mat Pilates: A high-intensity, low-impact workout in a supportive, no-judgment environment. It targets key muscles to help you stay strong and reduce chronic pain.
Power Vinyasa: Built to challenge you and strengthen the body. Expect an active, invigorating flow (though it may not be suitable for folx with hyper-mobility).
Strength for Longevity: Focuses on healthy aging and range of motion. It’s a medium-intensity workout using your own body weight, perfect for staying mobile for the rest of your life.

If you need to reset and decompress:

Vinyasa: A flow built to reset the nervous system, build strength, and increase flexibility.
Gentle Yoga: Slow movement designed to reduce stress. This is great for folx new to the practice, those recovering from injuries, or anyone who just likes to "dilly-daddle."
Restorative Yoga: The ultimate "melt." We use supportive props and long holds to soothe the nervous system and open space for deep rest.

Three people lie on their backs with eyes closed and feet together, supporting their heads with a cylindrical grey pillow. Potted plants and wood planks decorate the background on a brown wooden floor and light green wall.

If you are navigating parenthood:

Prenatal Yoga: Designed for all stages of pregnancy to relieve discomfort and build strength for labor.
Postnatal Yoga: A medium-paced ritual for new parents and pre-crawling infants. It focuses on core/pelvic floor toning and relief from the "lifting and carrying" of parenthood.

2. Trust Your "Body Radar"

The #1 red flag to watch out for at any studio isn’t the lighting or the playlist—it’s your own intuition. We often "feel" when something is off before we can explain why. If you walk into a space and your body immediately feels tight or unwelcome, trust your gut. Yoga is a practice of coming home to yourself. You deserve a space where you feel safe to be a beginner.

3. The "New Student" Superpower

The best thing you can do for your practice is to tell the teacher: "I’m new here." Our teachers are incredibly kind, but they aren't mind-readers. When you speak up, we can provide the specific props, modifications, and support you need. Often times, this helps everybody else in the room too! Remember: Yoga isn’t about touching your toes; it’s about the journey there.

4. It’s Not Just a Workout—It’s Brain Training

While the physical benefits are great, the most surprising thing about finding the right class is what happens to your brain. Yoga is helps reset and rewire your nervous system. By putting your body into poses that feel "unnatural" (but are physically safe), you are actually rewiring your neural pathways. You are teaching your brain that you can experience new and uncomfortable things without going into a full-blown panic. When you learn to breathe and stay composed on the mat, you’re practicing for the "oh shit" moments in real life.

5. Find Your Community

Finally, look for a space that values people over poses. Yoga is one of the best ways to build a community centered around wellness. When you find the right class, you aren't just getting a workout; you’re finding a group of kind, non-judgmental folx who are all on their own versions of the same journey.

Which journey are you starting today?

Whether you need to build longevity or just need a place to move slowly and breathe, we have a mat waiting for you. If you still have questions please reach out via chat or email. We are happy to hear from you!
